ABOUT US
PAD was founded by Venessa Mogatusi in 2016. A year earlier she had experienced severe period pains and began thinking about people who were not only going through a similar type of pain but were also without menstrual supplies. Seeking a sustainable solution for women in this difficult position, she began researching the idea of creating reusable pads. In 2016 she asked her good friend and seamstress Busisiwe Ndlovu to assist her on this journey and there began a formidable partnership.
Our reusable pads
All our pads are hand-made and are designed for absorbency and comfort. The outer-fabric is traditional (Shweshwe), used to symbolise the women and girls’ South African roots. Every bag contains 5 reusable pads. The bag contains a waterproof pouch that is used to store soiled pads should the women not have access to washing facilities immediately.
